Pagefast Acrobat Distiller Settings for creating Press Optimised PDFs

Acrobat Distiller default settings - explanation

When Distiller is installed it comes with four default joboption settings:

  1. Press: (300dpi) This is a basic set-up for high resolution printing press - these are acceptable, however the Pagefast Settings detailed in these pages have our preferred Job Options and higher resolution of 350dpi.
  2. Print: This setting is for output on desktop laser printers only - the resolution is not high enough for Press output.
  3. Screen (72dpi): This should be used for screen view and internet use only. This is the setting we use for customer’s proofs or web publishing but it FAR too low for printing. You will see that some graphics have a “bitmapped” (fuzzy) display.
  4. E-Book - this is a variation on the Screen setting and is rarely accessed by most users (it may not be present in your settings folder)

If you have any questions about the use of Acrobat or Distiller or any of the settings discussed in this section please contact Pagefast at help@pagefast.co.uk - we will be only too glad to support you by email - you can also use the feedback form here>
